Girl Chat and Makeup? What could be better?

Hey guys! I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with makeup artist and founder/owner of Carrie Wilson Makeup, and a very good friend of mine for many years, Carrie Wilson. I got my start in this industry in 2005 and that’s where I met Carrie. Ever since then I have admired and loved this lady through our years of being friends and working together.

Carrie has been in the industry for over 20 years as a makeup artist and has worked many years for Bobbi Brown being on the A Beauty Team, traveling all over the US with Bobbi Brown. I have always admired Carrie for her many talents in the industry. And not to mention that Carrie is one of the most beautiful people women you will meet on the outside and most of all on the inside…so extremely humble, genuine, and hardworking. It was so awesome to be able to sit down with Carrie over lunch and reminisce about the past few years we have known each other (she did my wedding makeup!). I always tell Carrie that I am beyond proud of her for taking a leap of faith and following her dreams of starting her own company. After many years of being with Bobbi Brown, Carrie decided to step out on her own to follow her long time dream of becoming her own “girl boss.” Carrie Wilson Makeup was born. I have enjoyed so much seeing how many awesome experiences Carrie has had in getting to be her own boss. I asked her: “ what are some of the highlights of your career so far?” She said it was hard because she loves what she does so much but…. She said anything from having the pleasure of doing former President Bill Clinton’s makeup to traveling to LA with corporate clients doing Pre-Golden Globe and Pre-Emmy’s makeup, to doing Pre-Fashion Week in NYC doing red carpet makeup. Locally Carrie also is the Beauty Expert on First Coast Living and River City Live.

After lunch, I got the pleasure of seeing Carrie’s new studio in Riverside. It is in the most beautiful building and the space that the studio is in is just perfect! Perfect lighting for doing makeup. When I found out that Carrie started carrying her own makeup line….I called her immediately and was like girl we have to make some time for me to check out your products! Everyone knows how much I love products and I am a self-proclaimed product junkie for sure. It is so much easier for Carrie’s clients to just grab what they need after a makeup lesson or wedding consultation, etc than to have to send them elsewhere to buy the products. Carrie definitely wants to be known first and foremost as an artist but in doing that she does work with private clientele and in doing makeup lessons she wants to help them stay up on the current trends and also very importantly just a “core face, everyday face.” Carrie and I always have always agreed that we want to make sure that our clients are wearing the makeup that makes them feel the “most beautiful.” There could be 10 different looks that they look amazing in but what makes them feel their most confident? What is their vibe what makes them feel the “most beautiful?” Not what we feel makes them look the best, although we would always share our honest opinion. She wanted to create a line of products that are “easy to use and that just work for the client for everyday…for that every day, day affair to evening affair. Products that stay on well, good textures and good products.” Carrie wanted her studio “to feel like another room in her house where you could come relax, feel comfortable, listen to a little music and learn how to do their makeup so that clients will know what to do when they go home.”

I definitely picked up a few things when I was with Carrie. I got to touch and feel everything she had and I have to say…I love it! Products I had to add to my arsenal were definitely the concealer, powder for touch ups (so in love with this product and it looks so natural), lipstick and lipgloss, and of course some makeup up brushes. We also chatted about “birthday brush bash.” Carrie says that she tells all of her clients that they should wash their brushes every month on the date they were born. I love that! That way we will never forget to wash our brushes! I’ll list all of the products below and you can definitely reach out to me or Carrie if you have to have some of these in your life!
